Board of Directors

The GPT Funds Management (GPTFM) Board is majority independent, with an independent chairman.

The GPTFM Board represents a wide range of skills and experience to assist with decision making and leadership. Members of the Board have extensive experience across funds management, property investment and development, financial markets, accounting and law.
 



Brian McFadyen

Chairman
Brian McFadyen - Independent Director

Career Summary

Brian was first appointed to the Board as an Independent Director in February 2016 and has been Chairman of the Board since that date. He has worked in the law and the real estate sector for over 50 years and has extensive corporate governance experience.

Brian was formerly the General Counsel of Novion Property Group and held a wide range of legal and corporate governance roles including Chairman of a number of Novion and Colonial First State Property subsidiary companies in Australia and New Zealand. Prior to joining Novion, he was Head of Legal for Colonial First State Global Asset Management. Before that, Brian was a partner of Freehill Hollingdale & Page (now Herbert Smith Freehills) for over 26 years practising in the real estate, funds management and hospitality and leisure sectors.

Brian is currently a non-executive director of Excelsior Housing Services Pty Limited, and a number of companies within the Pro-invest Australia Hotel Group and Pro-invest New Zealand Hotel Group. He is also a member of Pro-invest's Advisory Board which advises Pro-invest’s International Investment Committee, and a member of the Investment Committee for Westhaven Limited.

Brian was the Chairman of the Law Advisory Board at the University of Technology, Sydney and was the Chairman of Bowel Cancer Australia for almost 10 years until July 2015 and is now its Chairman emeritus.

Brian is a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute and The University of Technology, Sydney.



Chris Judd

Career Summary

Chris Judd was appointed as an independent director to the board of GPTFM in November 2025.

Chris is an experienced director and Chair, and property and funds management executive, with over 35 years of real estate experience across Australia and global markets.

He is currently an Independent Non-Executive Director of the New Zealand listed Precinct Properties New Zealand which is the largest owner and developer of premium, inner-city commercial office space in Auckland and Wellington. At Precinct he also serves on the People and Performance Committee and the Environmental, Sustainability and Governance Committee.

Chris also currently holds independent roles on the Board and investment committee of Richmond Bridge, a logistics real estate investment manager, and the investment committee of RF Corval, a specialist property fund manager.

Until recently Chris served as Executive Chair of 151 Property, a Blackstone portfolio company with retail, office, residential and logistics assets, and served as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the previously ASX-listed Hotel Property Investments.

Chris’ executive career also includes various roles in real estate funds and portfolio management, such as 14 years at AMP Capital including 12 years as Head of Real Estate Funds Management, leading a $20 billion platform.



Vicki Allen

Career Summary

Vicki was appointed as an independent director to the board of GPTFM in March 2024.

Vicki has over 30years of experience in the financial services and property investment industries holding various non-executive director and chairman roles for listed, unlisted, not for profit and private companies.

Vicki has held senior executive roles at a number of organisations including Trust Company, MLC Limited, Lend Lease Corporation and Westfield.

Vicki is currently the Non-Executive Chairman of Steadfast Group Ltd, interim Non-Executive Chairman of New Forests Pty Ltd, and Non-Executive Director of ING Bank (Australia) Ltd and NSW Treasury Corporation. 

Vicki was previously Chairman of BT Funds, Mortgage Choice and Bridge Housing Limited, Chairman of the NSW Ombudsman’s Audit and Risk Committee, and a non-executive director at Bennelong Funds Management Group Ltd, Bennelong Funds Management Limited, Mirvac Funds Management Limited and MTAA Superannuation Funds Pty Ltd.



Anthony Bertoldi

Career Summary

Anthony was appointed as an independent director to the board of GPTFM in December 2024.

Anthony is a commercial real estate professional with over 27 years of experience including investment management and capital markets across multiple property types and geographies. 

Anthony previously spent nine years at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) where he held various roles based in the United Arab Emirates, including Deputy Head Asia Pacific and Acting Head Asia Pacific. Anthony was also a member of ADIA’s Real Estate Department Executive Committee which reviewed ADIA’s real estate investment activity globally and monitored all ADIA Real Estate Department activities.

Prior to that Anthony held various roles at ING Real Estate including as Chief Executive Officer of the ING Retail Property Fund Australia, an unlisted wholesale retail property fund.

Prior to joining ING Real Estate, Anthony was a qualified commercial real estate property valuer at JLW Advisory (now known as Jones Lang Lasalle) where he valued major regional and sub-regional shopping centres, CBD commercial and major industrial assets



Simone Desmarchelier

Career Summary

Simone Desmarchelier was appointed as an independent director to the board of GPTFM in November 2025.

Simone is an experienced director and executive with over 30 years’ experience in corporate law, governance, financial services and diplomacy with a focus on real estate and infrastructure.

She is currently Chair of the City of Brisbane Investment Corporation, where she oversees a $400m urban wealth fund. Simone served for seven years on the boards of QIC Limited and QIC Private Capital as a non-executive director contributing to strategy, investment committee decisions, and governance across real estate, infrastructure, private equity, and private debt.

She also currently operates Montrose Advisory, an independent strategic advisory firm specialising in investment between Australia and Europe.

Earlier in her career Simone held legal roles at Herbert Smith Freehills, Minter Ellison, and Gilbert + Tobin, and as General Counsel for software and technology services company RPM Global. She was a vice president at Deutsche Bank then Lazard in London where she advised on capital raisings, product structuring and investor relations for major European real estate and infrastructure funds.

Simone served as Australia’s Consul-General and Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner to Italy for 6 years where she focussed on the Australian Government’s infrastructure investment initiatives and diplomatic engagement across Western Europe.

Simone is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Member of Chief Executive Women.



Stuart Marshall

Independent Director and Chairman of Audit, Compliance and Risk Management Committee

Career Summary

Stuart was appointed as an independent director to the board of GPTFM in March 2023 and appointed as the Chairman of GPTFM’s Audit, Compliance and Risk Management Committees in November 2023.

Stuart has over 30 years of experience working for KPMG in Hong Kong and Australia, including 20 years spent as an audit partner specialising in real estate, construction and funds management industries. During his career at KPMG, Stuart led the Real Estate Audit practice and was a member of the Real Estate and Financial Services Executive team. Stuart also spent five years as the Partner in Charge of Sydney Financial Services Audit.

Stuart retired from KPMG in July 2020 and is currently a non-executive Director of Goodman Funds Management Australia Limited, the responsible entity for the Goodman Australia Industrial Partnership, and is the Chairman of its Audit Risk & Compliance Committee and a member of its Securityholder Committee. Stuart is also on the Board of The Ethics Centre and is Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee.

Stuart is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.



Russell Proutt

Executive Director and GPT's Chief Executive Officer

Career Summary

Russell has over 30 years' of global leadership experience with a breadth of knowledge from commercial property markets, infrastructure and private equity. Russell has held several leadership positions with market leading funds management platforms, and brings experience in investment management as well as extensive merger and acquisition, capital markets, corporate transaction and financing capabilities across global markets.  
 
As Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director, Russell has responsibility for the overall management of GPT, including the development and implementation of GPT’s strategic objectives.
 
Most recently, Russell was the Chief Financial Officer of Charter Hall Group. Prior to this he was with Brookfield Asset Management as a Managing Partner based in Canada and, more recently, Australia, where he worked in the property and infrastructure sectors throughout the Asian region. Russell also spent 15 years in investment banking and the financial services sector in North America. 
 
Russell is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and is a Chartered Business Valuator. Russell is a Director of the Property Council of Australia and a member of the Property Champions of Change. 



Mark Harrison

Executive Director and GPT's Chief Investment Officer
Qualifications

Bachelor or Property Economics – University of Technology Sydney

Career Summary

Mark has more than 20 years of multi-sector commercial property and investment experience spanning across valuations, capital transactions, funds management and private equity throughout Australia & New Zealand. 
 
As the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of GPT, Mark is responsible for investments, portfolio management, strategy, capital transactions, corporate development, research and other associated functions.
 
Prior to his current role, Mark was a Managing Director of Blackstone Real Estate Australia. He has also held several leadership roles at Charter Hall, including as Head of Capital Transactions, and at Knight Frank as a Divisional Director of Valuations.  Mark holds a Bachelor of Property Economics from the University of Technology Sydney.
